I was bopping to this when 29 and just turned 50 and rock out still so it’s a song that’s v much stood test of time. A lot of us Gen Xers were the first to rock out to this back in the day and we love it because it just reminds you of those great times and it’s amazing how it still brings all the ages and teenagers onto the dance floor at the end of any good night out!

Well as Brandon says they were influenced by British performers he said Bowie especially in another interview and he was a theatrical looking frontman wore some interesting stage outfits himself which was maybe more Vegas than Bowie inspired but anyway he was gorgeous looking too so of course Britain liked the look of him and sound also and his showmanship he's lean and fashionable like Bowie being a Mormon he's probably more wholesome not into the sex and drugs just the rock n roll. I just watched the Mr. Brightside video again it has a very similar asthetic to the Moulin Rouge movie too with Ewan McGregor not sure which came first.

In Britain during this period we never actually thought of this as British music. There was a British sound, which is why we all thought the Killers were British at the beginning, but at the same time you had just as popular American bands like the Killers, the strokes and the white stripes. Its kinda of a punk thing, who invented punk the Ramones or the Sex Pistols kinda thing.

I've listened to this hundreds of times over the last several years. When this came out i was literally OVER THE MOON. Admittedly i've not kept following JP as much probably since he brought out all this love and others as it didn't quite hit me personally like his songs before. Thats not to say that the "We Were Raised Under Grey Skies" album and many of the songs he brought out weren't so beautiful. His live lounges of ex factor, his acoustic and stripped down sessions are something i cant help go back to listen to when reminded of moments in my life what were filled with his voice. He helped me feel again when i either couldn't or i was scared to. JP Cooper was my safety net for a long time to bleed emotions that i couldnt handle alone. Im sad to see theres no upcoming events or tours planned on his site at the moment. Makes me wish i tried harder to see him back then. Ive got notifications for any future concerts or tours and cant wait to bring my partner whos never heard him along with me. Fingers crossed! 🥺 One last note- musics a strange thing sometimes. When our lives improve sometimes the music was helped us hurt and feel and deal with the situation at hand have to be left there for a while. Until were strong enough to hear them again. I had to stop listening to JP later on in my healing process. Ive reminded myself of the songs i used to love only probably yearly until recently. Im now strong enough to listen to him again, to remind me of what his music meant and what was going on in my life at the time and im grateful for my progress and to enjoy it all again in a new way whilst acknowledging the past 🥺 Other than We were raised under grey skies, my favourites were always In the silence and Satellite.
